Objects Gallery and Theresienstadt Bracelet Interactive
Jewish Museum
In October 2025, the Jewish Museum opened Identity, Culture, and Community: Stories from the Collection of the Jewish Museum, a sweeping exhibition spanning more than 200 works across archaeology, ceremonial art, painting, sculpture, and contemporary installation. Organized thematically and chronologically, the exhibition explores how objects preserve personal histories while reflecting broader cultural narratives.
KUDOS designed two interactive experiences that invite visitors to engage more deeply with objects whose stories extend far beyond what can be conveyed through traditional gallery labels.
One interactive centers on the Theresienstadt bracelet, a remarkable collection of twenty charms and tokens secretly assembled by Czech Holocaust survivor Greta Perlman while imprisoned in the Theresienstadt camp-ghetto between 1941 and 1944. Designed as an intimate digital companion, the interface allows visitors to enlarge each charm and uncover the personal stories embedded within Perlman’s visual diary. Hidden throughout her imprisonment, the bracelet survived the Holocaust and was later donated to the museum in 1975.
The second interactive is located within the Museum’s Pruzan Family Center for Learning, where archaeological artifacts and contemporary objects are presented side by side under three themes: At Home, Interactions Among Peoples, and From Israelite Religion to Judaism. While the gallery intentionally minimizes wall text—asking only, “What do objects reveal about communities?”—KUDOS developed touchscreen interfaces that mirror the physical arrangement of the displayed artifacts, encouraging visitors, especially younger audiences, to explore each object through layered stories, images, and historical context.
Together, these interactives transform observation into discovery, demonstrating how thoughtful digital experiences can deepen curiosity while preserving the quiet, contemplative nature of the museum environment.
